If you are single and live in Atlanta you may have heard of 8 at 8 Dinner Club or One on One Matchmaking. (Same company; two different services.)

The result?

  • I ate at new restaurants in Atlanta,
  • I came home with funny dating stories each time,
  • I met amazing women (and made new female friends!), and…
  • I only got one date out of it.

Review of 8 at 8 Dinner Club in Atlanta, GA

Overall, I enjoyed my experience with 8 at 8 Dinner Club.

I had no luck with finding a boyfriend (see #2 under “What I Didn’t Like”), but I did have fun overall.

Here’s what I liked.

What I Liked about 8 at 8 Dinner Club – Top 10 Things

1. You Explore New Restaurants.

You choose what restaurants you want to eat at. I chose restaurants relatively close to where I live, and ended up eating at cool, new places in Buckhead, Midtown, Decatur, and Brookhaven.

If anything, 8 at 8 Dinner Club resulted in me finding new restaurants that I’d like to revisit!

2. You Can Have Fun – No Matter What.

With 8 people at a table, it’s hard NOT to have fun at dinner.

Yes, some people will be slightly awkward. Many will NOT be your type at all. But you will meet cool, new people that you would have never crossed paths with otherwise.

Additionally, the ladies from 8 at 8 dinner club tend to invite at least one “fun, party” person to each dinner who will “break the ice” and ensure that everyone has fun

3. There’s No Pressure.

If you don’t like the person to your left, no big deal. You can talk to the person to your right. Not feeling a connection with them either? You can talk to another female (or male) at the table, or talk to the person across from you.

There’s no pressure to carry on a conversation with just one person the entire night. It’s less stressful than a date.

4. Free Drinks Before the 8 at 8 Dinners!

The night starts off with a brief 15-minute happy hour and a free drink.

5. Meet Cool Females (or Guys!).

I met two AMAZING women from 8 at 8 Dinner Club.

The women who go to the 8 at 8 dinners tend to be well educated, fun, outgoing, and attractive.

I met one of my very closest friends from 8 at 8 Dinner Club. We go out ALL the time now and pick up single guys together!

6. Nicely Arranged Happy Hour to Break the Ice.

Each dinner starts off with a 15 minute happy hour.

Each happy hour has a hostess from 8 at 8 Dinner Club. The hostess is GREAT about introducing everyone to each other and ensuring that everyone has a drink before being seated at the dinner table.

7. Well Organized Seating Arrangement.

There’s no concern about where to sit at dinner. Each 8 at 8 dinner has name tags on the table. The ladies from 8 at 8 dinner club have already decided where you will sit!

The seating arrangements are also well done. It goes boy-girl-boy-girl, and the women from 8 at 8 Dinner Club did sit me next to the “most eligible” bachelor each time.

Granted, I did attend dinners where I didn’t particularly like any of the men at my table. But, of the men that were available, I did end up sitting next to the man who would be the best match out of the four for me.

8. Meet Educated People Seeking a Relationship.

8 at 8 Dinner Club is pricey, so you’ll likely end up meeting educated people who are serious about finding a relationship. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be paying for the service!

This means you’ll likely meet people with good-paying jobs who are serious about finding a boyfriend/girlfriend.

9. Similar Age Range at Each 8 at 8 Table.

8 at 8 Dinner Club has three sets of tables each night, based on age. I tended to be at the 8:15pm dinner table where people were ages 25 to 35.

There’s also a 40-50 year old table, and then a 55+ table.

10. Funny Stories

No matter the experience, I always came home with a funny story to share.

For example, one woman brought her dog in a purse to the dinner (kind of weird!).

What I Didn’t Like About 8 at 8 Dinner Club – Top 5 Things

Every dating app, dating site, and dating service has its pros and cons. That’s to be expected. I have plenty of complaints about Bumble, Hinge, and Match.com too.

Here’s what I didn’t love about 8 at 8 Dinner Club.

1. Matches Mostly Based on Age.

Anyone can sign up for each dinner and the tables are based on age. This means that there are 4 men (or 4 women, if you are a guy) for the ladies to choose from for YOU as a potential match.

The ladies at 8 at 8 Dinner Club will ask you about your ideal partner, but their pool to choose from is limited.

You’ll be sat next to the best match for you, but the man (or woman) likely won’t meet many of the criteria you’d like in a match.

That’s why 8 at 8 Dinner Club also offers a premium service called One on One Matchmaking.

2. I Only Got One Date Out of It.

I joined 8 at 8 Dinner Club to meet quality men and to get dates.

Unfortunately, the men at 8 at 8 Dinner Club didn’t follow through.

Only one guy asked me out on a date after the dinner, ans I wasn't really into him.

3. Each 8 at 8 Dinner Will Have an Awkward Person.

Each dinner will have an awkward person or two.

I found that there was usually one guy each time that smelled really bad, didn’t speak English well, or was socially awkward.

You have to accept the fact that 8 at 8 can’t really “reject” men, so you will end up with a guy who you’d rather not cross paths with again at each dinner.

4. 8 at 8 Dinner Club Is Expensive.

8 at 8 Dinner Club is pretty expensive. You are paying for the service PLUS the price of dinner.

5. You’ll Eventually See Everyone on a Dating App.

If you swipe a LOT on dating apps like Bumble or Hinge, you will see the same people you met at 8 at 8 Dinner Club.

If you have time to swipe and swipe, you can meet the same men (or women) for free through a dating app. (This assumes you have a good dating app profile, and go through the effort of setting up a date.)

8 at 8 Dinner Club – FAQS

How Does 8 at 8 Dinner Club Work?

8 at 8 Dinner Club doesn’t have much information on their website so I’ll give you the down-low. Here’s how it works.

  • You call (or email) 8 at 8 Dinner Club.
  • A woman from 8 at 8 Dinner Club (probably Emily or Jennifer) will call you and tell you about the service.
  • The woman from 8 at 8 will ask you about your ideal partner.
  • If you are a man, you may be asked to come into the office to meet the team. If you are a woman, you probably won’t be asked to come in.
  • You will learn the price (it changes!) and how many dinners you will get.
  • You sign up for 8 at 8 Dinner Club.
  • You are granted access to the website, where you see what dates are available for dinners, and at what location. (Usually there are dinners on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.)
  • You sign up for the dinners that work for you.
  • You are emailed if you are matched, and then show up!

You will be asked to provide feedback after each dinner. The ladies at 8 at 8 Dinner Club do read the feedback, and I did find that my matches improved from dinner to dinner.

How Is Each Dinner Set Up at 8 at 8 Dinner Club?

Each 8 at 8 Dinner has 8 people at the table (obviously).

There are three tables total, organized by age.

One table is usually ages late 20s or early-to-mid 30s, one table is late 30s to late 40s, and one table is 50+ years.

  • Each table has a different sitting time. If you are at the “young” table, your dinner time will likely be 8:15pm.
  • Each night kicks off with a happy hour (show up on time so you can meet everyone!). During happy hour, the 8 at 8 hostess will introduce everyone to each other and grab everyone a drink before sitting at the table.
  • After 15 minutes of chatting, you will be seated at your designated table and in your designated spot.
  • Everyone orders their own dinner and pays for their own dinner.
  • After the dinner, everyone is encouraged to share their business card with each other. If a guy likes a woman, the idea is that he’ll call or email her, and ask her out on a date.

How Much Does 8 at 8 Dinner Club Cost?

The price to join 8 at 8 Dinner Club is different for men and women.

I don’t know the details, but from talking to others it seems like men get a total of 10 dinners and women get 5-6 dinners. This helps maintain a 50/50 ratio at each dinner, as it seems like more women sign up for 8 at 8 Dinner Club.

8 at 8 Dinner Club doesn’t advertise their price online, as it depends on your age, your gender, and potentially how much business they need!

The price seems to be anywhere from $500 to $1,000 to join 8 at 8 Dinner Club. Each dinner costs between $50 and $100, plus the price of dinner itself.

Would I Do 8 at 8 Dinner Club Again?

So here’s the question: Would I sign up for 8 at 8 Dinner Club again?

My answer: Yes.

I know that most of the women I met through 8 at 8 Dinner Club were disappointed. They felt that their matches sucked.

However, I’m an extrovert and I enjoyed each dinner, even if I didn’t end up connecting with any men.

If you have the disposable income, go ahead and do it.

If you don’t have an extra $500-$1,000, your money would be better spent paying for someone to take professional photos of you for dating apps, so that you can get more dates THAT way.

What is the Success Rate of 8 at 8 Dinner Club?

Does anyone get a boyfriend or girlfriend through 8 at 8 Dinner Club?

I have three close friends (plus me!) who did 8 at 8 Dinner Club. Unfortunately, none of us met a guy at 8 at 8 Dinner Club. I’m the only one who actually even got a date!

However, my ex-boyfriend met his wife through at 8 at 8 Dinner Club 5 years ago, so I guess that some have success.
