Dating a Man In His 40s
There are many benefits to dating a man within 3-5 years of your age. You two will likely be in similar places in your lives and careers, and you may be more likely to share the same long-term goals.
However, there are benefits to dating an older man in his 40s. If you are a woman in your early 30s, be open to dating men both younger AND older than you. You may be surprised with the benefits of dating a man in his 40s.
Here are 6 benefits to dating a man in his mid-40s.
7 Benefits to Dating a Man In His 40s
Here are positive things about dating a man in his mid-40s.
1. He Appreciates Your Body
If you are in your 30s and you are dating a 40-year old man, he’s going to appreciate your body.
Assuming you work out and take care of yourself, he’s going to think you are hot and sexy.
2. Money Is Less of An Issue
After the age of 30, most men are settled in their careers (at least the quality men).
A man in his 30s can afford to take you out to a fancy dinner restaurant (and some will!), but a man in his 40s won’t even think about letting you pick up the check.
3. An Older Man Won’t Judge You
A man in his 40s knows that no one is perfect. He may be less likely to judge you based on your quirks and imperfections. He's seen it all.
4. You Know What You Are Signing Up For
A guy in his 40s is set in his ways. This is both a good thing and a bad thing (article coming soon on the bad things!). If he is working out and eating well in his 40s, he’ll probably continue to do so. If he enjoys a variety of hobbies like golf, tennis, and poker, he’ll probably continue these hobbies.
With a guy in this 40s – you know exactly what you are signing up for. His career is likely set at this point in time, and his hobbies, interests, and characteristics are unlikely to change.
5: He’s Confident and Easy to Date
A guy in his 40s know who he is, which is very attractive to women. He’ll make plans for dates and follow through.
6. He’s Chill and Low-Key
A guy in his 40s has likely been through bad experiences. Maybe a lay-off, a divorce, a year where he lost a significant amount of money, a death in the family, etcetera.
After going through these experiences, you’ll notice that dating an older guy may have a calming effect on you.
7. 40-Year Old Men Can Offer Great Career Advice
A successful guy in his 40s has climbed the corporate ladder. Or he’s grown his own business from scratch. He’s reported up to many people, and he’s managed multiple direct reports. He knows how to grow his career, and can offer you great advice to grow yours too.
Even better, he won’t be threatened by your career successes, as he’s already made it to the top himself.
Should a 30 Year Old Woman Date a 40 Year Old Guy?
There’s many benefits to dating an older man, but many negative aspects too.
According to a study by Emory, the ideal age gap is one-year for a successful marriage. If the age gap is 10-years, the divorce rate jumps to 39%.
